Hello everyone! My name is Rachel Whiteside and I am originally from Sheffield, Illinois.  Sheffield is a small town of only about 1,000 people and I lived on a farm outside of the town.  I just graduated from Centrall College and currently work as a math teacher at the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo, IA!

At Central I played softball, and I made some great memories there.  Softball has been a huge part of my life since a very young age, and I wouldn't trade my softball experience at Central for anything.  The picture on the right is of me with two of my good friends and teammates.  In my free time, I enjoy riding my bike, animals, and watching movies (my favorite is the Pursuit of Happyness).  I also love watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears!

My family is also very important to me.  I have two younger brothers, Josh (18) and Luke (12).  We like to do a lot of things together, and my family even came to Arizona my senior year to watch us play softball! It was a lot of fun.  The first picture above was taken in Arizona at a zoo.

I am very excited to be your teacher.  I have always loved the new and exciting you can learn while studying math, and I have a great passion for teaching.  I hope that throughout the year we can learn new and exciting things together and that you can enjoy this class and math just as much as I do!

If you are interested in my beliefs and values when it comes to teaching, I have attached my teaching philosophy in the document below.  It talks about the kind of teacher I hope to become and the way I hope to teach.  Feel free to read it at your leisure.
